CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW TATTOO!
Your tattoo was professionally applied under the most sterile of conditions. YOU are now responsible for its aftercare. To ensure you properly heal your tattoo, follow these simple guidelines:

-
Remove bandage after 1-2 hours. All wounds need to breathe if they are to heal properly.

-
Always wash hands prior to starting aftercare process. Limit any contact with tattoo other than when caring for it. Dirty hands or coming in to contact with dirty materials can lead to infection.

-
Wash the tattoo using an unscented mild antibacterial soap (such as DIAL GOLD) and warm water.

-
Use clean hands to wash your tattoo. Do not use abrasive materials such as scrubbing with a washcloth. Pat dry with a clean, soft paper towel.

-
Once dry, apply a very thin coat of ointment to the tattoo. We recommend using AQUAPHOR as ointment or other aftercare approved by your artist. A little goes along way and too much ointment traps germs into your tattoo which can potentially lead to infection. Just a dab will do. Work it in well and dab off the excess with a clean paper towel. There should be just enough to keep the tattoo moist. DO NOT REBANDAGE THE TATTOO!

-
Repeat the cycle of washing, drying and applying ointment to the tattoo 2-3 times per day for the next 2-3 weeks or until the tattoo is fully healed.

-
Scabbing, peeling, flaking and itching are all normal parts of the healing process. DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH YOUR TATTOO. This will pull the ink out.

-
Showering is okay, but short showers are recommended so that your tattoo is not soaking for a long period of time. No swimming, hot tubs or soaking baths until the tattoo is fully healed.

-
Avoid sun exposure while your tattoo is healing. Continuing to avoid extended sun exposure after the tattoo is healed will help prevent fading.

-
Following all these simple steps will ensure that you end up with the best results, minimal complications and help your tattoo stay looking bright and beautiful for many years to come.
